It’s part of our lives and our children’s lives. It is integral to how we conduct business, our lives, and how we communicate with each other. But, how much is too much and when is too soon? Is it taking the place, for some children, the kinds of face-to-face and hands-on interaction they need for optimal development? Share your thoughts and observations with us!
I am saddened by the overuse of technology. Some programs implement a “no cell phone zone” policy to encourage parents to communicate daily with teachers. I feel fortunate that we simply didn’t have cell phones when my children were tiny.
I find that computers are essential to our daily lives but there is too much use of this technology among our students. There are too many young students living their lives in front of the X-boxes. t.v . i-pads and other devices. There are no development of their social skills as they are isolated in their own little worlds.
I agree. I think children’s preoccupation with technology is reducing the amount of time for imaginative play, which then impacts the development of executive function.
